Meet The Clinic Team

Dr. Alicia Pownall, DVM

Dr. Pownall graduated Magna cum Laude from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and will lead the team at our new clinic. Dr. Pownall comes with valuable experience in a high-volume, high-quality spay and neuter clinic, and is enthusiastic to begin working to make a difference in our local community. She is Fear-Free Certified, and spent time traveling to rural Washington to the Native American Reserves setting up mobile clinics for wellness exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter at no cost to the low-income area.

Megan Betts, LVT

Our licensed veterinarian technician, Megan, recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Penn Foster College with a Veterinary Technician degree. Megan has been in the Veterinary profession for almost a decade, starting in a small-animal, general practice as a receptionist and quickly moving to an assistant/technician position, where she thrived and moved into a supervisor/trainer position. Megan has experience working in small-animal, emergency medicine, and with horses. Megan is certified as a Fear Free Professional and prides herself on her ability to empathize and work with fearful and stressed pets. Megan continues to expand her veterinary passion and knowledge with continuing education and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others. She is very excited to be working with the Humane Society of Warren County and further serve the community through the work of the HSWC Spay Clinic.

Cailin Young, Tech Assistant

Cailin joined the clinic team in the fall of 2022 and has been an absolutely wonderful addition to our team. We are very lucky to have such skilled staff at our clinic and Cailin is no exception. She comes to us with years of experience in the veterinary field having done a little of everything. Cailin is like a ninja in the clinic always keeping busy and making sure all tasks are completed. She enjoys working with all animals, but is especially good with the spicy babies (kittens). There is a calming presence about her that they seem to appreciate when visiting the clinic.

Allison Wharton, Receptionist

Allison began her journey with the Humane Society of Warren County as a member of the shelter team in the summer of 2022, she worked with both dog team and cat team. She is very personable, loves the fuzzy critters, and owns a multitude of different animal species. She recently earned her veterinary assistant certification and has had a goal of working in a veterinary clinic to gain more skills. Her dedication, hard work and reliability made her transition to the clinic as our new receptionist a no brainer.
